Roger Lee Smith's Obituary
Roger Lee Smith, 72, of Shenandoah, VA passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 after a lengthy illness. He was born October 26, 1947 in Rappahannock County to the late Benjamin Franklin and Catherine Jenkins Smith.
Roger attended Culpeper County High School. He worked for A&P for many years, as well as Shuman Homebuilders, Cargill and Fauquier Hospital. He also pastored Joppa Bible Church in Fort Valley, VA and most recently Five Forks Baptist Church in Woodville, VA. Roger enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty; daughters, Stacy Leighan and her husband, Bernie, Susan Ramos and Dana Smith; his adopted son, David McCloud, Sr.; and six siblings, William Smith, Frank Smith, Jr., Granville Smith, Timothy Smith, Frances Smith and Linda Seale.
Additional survivors include four grandchildren, William Ramos, Elizabeth Ramos, David McCloud, Jr., and Daniel McCloud; one great grandson, David McCloud, III; special nephew, Eric Lindsey; his foster children, Chad, Chantell and Erica Wright Peters; and many other nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with David Thompson and Pastor John Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Bethsaida United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Will Ramos, Bernard Leighan, Eric Lindsey, Sr., Eric Lindsey, Jr., David McCloud, Sr. and Dic Burke. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Tharp and Wayne Leighan.
