Roger Lee Newton's Obituary
Roger Lee Newton, 67, of Leon went to be with the Lord Friday, October 26, 2012 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1945 in Fredericksburg to Annabelle Brooks Newton and the late Willie Theodore Newton.
Roger enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid Civil War enthusiast. His love for nature included fishing and bird watching. He was a self proclaimed meteorologist who was always reading the almanac or watching the weather channel when he wasn’t enjoying westerns. He will be remembered as a loving husband, dad and “Poppie”.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Karen Newton, two children, Cory Newton and his wife, Jennifer of Bealeton and Justin Newton of Leon, one sister, Joyce Bache and one grandchild, Hannah Dawn Newton.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roger’s name to the Children’s Bible Ministry of Virginia, 18301 Sandy Springs, Stevensburg, VA 22741.
