Rodney L. Shaver's Obituary
Rodney L. Shaver, 81, of Bumpass was born November 4, 1942, in Anjean, West Virginia, to the late James Opal and Mary Marie Shaver, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Rodney spent his early years as a coal miner in West Virginia. He then moved to Maryland where he began his career as a heavy equipment operator. He eventually settled in Virginia where he continued to operate heavy equipment. He also worked at General Products in the 1970's.
Rodney enjoyed his music and playing his guitar with beloved best friends, Ronnie Rankins and Kenneth Stewart, who also preceded him in death. He also cherished spending time with children and grandkids.
Rodney is survived by four children, Syprenia Farmer (Thomas), Terry Shaver (Becky), Ronda Purks (Glen), and Angelia Shaver (Randy); two sisters, Donna Loskie and Rosemary Fiocchi, both of Vineland, NJ; nine grandchildren, Amy Fitch, Amanda Donnelly, Glenda Purks, Ceth Shook (CJ), David Edwards, Rodney Edwards (Bucky), Diamond Edwards, Joseph Shaver, and Jessica Workman; and eight great-grandchildren to continue his legacy.
He was preceded in death wife of 49 years, Katherine Shaver; brother, Allen Shaver; sister, Wanda Moore; and his parents.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
