Robert Stanley Whorton, 95, of Castleton, VA died March 1, 2026 at Culpeper Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born April 21, 1930 in Rappahannock county to the late Robert Lee Whorton and Lula Dodson Whorton.
He is survived by his daughters Darlene Compton (Ray) and Judy Coates (Chuck); five grandchildren, Jeff Compton (Destiny), Brian Compton (Jamie), Tommy Settle (Stephanie), Bobby Jo Jarvis and Charlie “CR” Coates, III and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Jessie Virginia Whorton and one sister Violet Lee Whorton.
Robert proudly served in the United States Army. He loved gardening and just being outside. He lived in the same house he was born in 95 years ago. He also was the last Whorton to live in Whorton Hollow. Our Dad and Grandad was usually very quiet but when he spoke we all knew to listen. We all loved him so much and he will be dearly missed.
