Robert Columbus Tilson's Obituary
Robert Columbus Tilson died suddenly at the age of 78 in Rixeyville, VA.
Robert served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Later, as a licensed electrician, he opened his own electric company. While working at Keller Manufacturing, Robert met and married Dorothy Ryder.
Late in his life, he helped his sister with her farm and livestock. The animals looked forward to seeing him each day. Robert’s last remaining pet, a tortie cat, was passed down to his niece, Donna.
The Rixeyville neighborhood where Robert lived was a pleasant and scenic area with friendly, helpful, and good neighbors. The land Robert owned is part of Greenland, where A. P. Hill was born.
Robert is survived by his sister, Linda Tilson; his niece, Donna Wendt and her family; two nephews, Donald Wells and his son; and one half-brother, Lonnie Wells.
A special thank you to two neighbors, especially Tom Abel, Little Fork Rescue and the Sheriff’s deputies who responded when Robert passed. His death was sudden and unexpected, but he died doing something he loved: taking care of animals.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
