Robert James Maines' Obituary
Robert James Maines, 79, of Culpeper, VA passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024. He was
born September 21, 1944 in Washington D.C. to the late Merle and Mary Elizabeth (Sheriff) Maines of Oxon Hill, MD.
Robert was raised in Oxon Hill, MD where he was one of eleven children. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. He loved God, his family and friends, the mountains of Montana, art, and last but certainly not least serenading strangers with his favorite Frank Sinatra songs.
Robert is survived by his; daughters, Theresa Maines Robinson (Robert), Katherine Maines, Brittany Jenkins (David), Caitland “Catie” McQuaid (Millard); grandchildren, Victoria Fulford, Robby Allison, Hannah Allison, Robert Robinson, Connor Maines, Heston Jenkins, Mason Jenkins, Kolton Jenkins, Braydon McQuaid, and Quinn McQuaid; sisters, Judith Voorhies (Frank), Clara Meinhardt (Walter), and Mary Faye Mehlfelt; brother, Joseph Maines; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, favorite puppy companion “Blue”, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his grandson, Tommy Allison, a sister,
Marilyn Jane Delgado, and brothers, David Henry Maines, Merle Dean Maines, John Thomas
Maines, Richard Brett Maines, and Ronald Cleveland Maines.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Found and Sons
Funeral Chapel of Culpeper. 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Erik Kalenga
officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Inurnment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA with
military honors provided by VFW Post 2524.
