Robert Wade Lane's Obituary
Robert W. “Bobby” Lane, age 76, of Culpeper, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 26, 1947, in Culpeper to the late Robert Dan Lane and Virginia “Jenny” Lewis Lane Bundy.
Bobby was also known as “Mud Cat” and “Pop Pop”. He took care of his siblings after his dad passed and the neighborhood kids throughout his lifetime. Bobby’s places of employment were Bill’s Gulf, Culpeper Stone, Luckstone and Cedar Mountain Quarries where he retired from. His hobbies were fishing, going to the beach and driving his Nova to Skyline Drive. Bobby loved his ’73 Chevy Nova and having family dinners. He loved his family, especially his wife and grandchildren.
Bobby is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Patsy Ryder Lane; two sons, Daniel Barfield (Lauren) and Brandon Barfield (Katherine); one brother, Gerald T. “Jerry” Lane (Carol); five sisters, Ella F. Kay (Robert), Jannette “Pat” Rogers (Walter “Sonny”), Dorothy A. “Finney” Scott (Earl, Sr.), Rosa Lee Stanley (Nathaniel Jasper) and Carolyn L. Grayson; grandchildren, Andre, Jackson, Olivia and Abijah Barfield and Samuel, Deacon, Vera, Shepherd, Etta and Cormac Barfield; Godchildren, Danielle Stinnette (John), Chris Bush and his son, Chris “Tiny” and David Bush; two brothers-in-law, Roger Ryder (Jerrie) and Larry Ryder; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Lane; god-sister, Mary Kovi; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Vickie Ryder and one brother-in-law, Charles Ryder.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Rev. Sanford Reaves, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m.
