Robert Edward Hughes' Obituary
Robert E. Hughes, 62, of Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 with his family by his side.
Bob was a family man who loved spending time with his grandkids. He was social and loved get togethers with family and friends. Every Friday and Saturday night, you could find Bob at his brother Richard’s house playing UNO. He loved to ride his motorcycle and sometimes enjoyed a little moonshine, but never at the same time. Bob also enjoyed fishing with his brothers and they have many fond memories of these times shared together. Even up until the night he passed, Bob loved to share a dirty joke with his friends and family.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Helen; his children, Robert Hughes, Jr., and Tawnya Hughes; his siblings, Douglas Brooks (Lisa), and Richard Brooks (Robyn); four grandchildren, Alisha, Destiny, Jade and William; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Brooks, and Tammy Lester (Larry); brother-in-law, Buddy Turner; several nieces, and nephews; and other loving extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Geraldine Brooks; a daughter, Christine Collins; and a brother, David Ray Brooks.
His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. Burial will be held in Lewis Presbyterian Chapel Cemetery in Frankford, WV.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Helen Hughes for Robert Hughes’ celebration of life.
