Rev. Robert Lee Dunphy's Obituary
Robert Lee (Bob) Dunphy was born on July 17th, 1930 to the late George R. Dunphy and Sylvia K. Morgan. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Wiese and Madilyn Harrer. He married Sally Ann Cooper in 1947. They were married until she went home to The Lord in March of 2011. A year and a half later, The Lord blessed him with another lovely wife, Gilberta Lancome. They were married until her home going in 2016. Bob was blessed to be a caretaker for both of his lovely wives until their passing.
He had three children; Pamela Ann Paschal of Ft. Pierce, Florida and Barbara Ann Taylor of Sperryville, Virginia. He was preceded in death in 2015 by his son; Alan Lee (Luke) Dunphy.
He leaves behind three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
Bob was a veteran of the Korean conflict and was an acting Corporal in the U.S. Marines. He won rifle sharp shooting awards and was a boxer for the Marine Corp in the light welter weight division.
In his lifetime, he had many successful businesses. He was a paint contractor; he owned a horse auction barn and a successful ranch as well as a horse equipment wholesale business. He graduated at the top of his class from RHEMA Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 1983.
The most important time in his life was when The Lord called him into full time ministry. He pastored a church for over ten years and was a full time missionary to Burkina Faso, West Africa. He was blessed to be able to start many churches there as well as care for thousands of orphaned children and widowed mothers. The ministry in West Africa will continue on with the staff The Lord provided to carry on with the work The Lord called him to do.
The name “Dunphy” means: “brown warrior” so it was not surprising The Lord called him to an African nation. He lived his life to glorify God The Father and his home going was in worship, faith and victory and that was the way he lived his life!
A Funeral service will be held Thursday July 6, 2017 at Found and Sons Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701 at Noon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Internment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 2524.
