Robert Charles Cleer's Obituary
Robert Charles Cleer, 84, of Orange, VA died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at his residence. He was born February 5, 1934 in Arlington, VA to the late Thomas and Beulah Morrison Cleer.
Mr. Cleer was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Korean War on a submarine called the USS Trumpetfish from 1951 to 1955. He was also a truck driver for 41 years and was active with the Senior Citizen Center in Madison. He enjoyed guns and hunting, loved his golf cart and his dog “Lucky” and loved to “rearrange” the garage.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cleer; three children, Robert C. Cleer, Jr. and Lorie Marks, Troy N. Cleer and Brandy Knighting, and Cathy Cleer-Hall; and one brother, Buddy Cleer and his wife, Jean.
Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Haley M. Cleer, Reagan R. Cleer, Amanda S. Cleer, Katherine L. Brown, Cody J. High, Logan A. Butler, and Isabella L. Knighting, and Curtis Hall; three great grandchildren, Skylar Grace Hummill, Kooper Grindstaff and Kase Grindstaff; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Crossman and Maggie Hardin.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 4 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Rev. Sandy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
