Robert (Bobby) Allan Lange Sr.'s Obituary
Robert (Bobby) Allan Lange, Sr., 61, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at his residence after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 26, 1963, in Washington, D.C., Bobby was the son of the late Dr. Glen Robert Lange and Helen Norrie Lange. The youngest of three children, he grew up in Bethesda, MD, and attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, where he excelled as a star defensive end.
Following high school, Bobby began a career in construction, building homes for several companies-including many of the beautiful houses that still line the ridge along the Potomac River near McLean, VA. He later joined the Government Publishing Office, where he worked in the carpenter shop for 25 years, forging strong friendships that he treasured throughout his life.
Bobby’s life was defined by love for his family, a passion for the outdoors, and a deep commitment to his community. An adventurer at heart, he was scuba certified, loved thrill-seeking experiences, and had a knack for building and taking things apart. He devoted countless hours to Culpeper Little League and the Culpeper Football Association, where his dedication, encouragement, and sense of humor shaped the lives of many young athletes.
A proud NRA member, Bobby also founded and led his own shooting club, affectionately known as Club Lead. The group became a lasting source of fellowship and joy, bringing together friends and fellow enthusiasts who shared his love of the sport.
In 2024, Bobby was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare neurological disorder. True to his character, he faced this challenge with strength, humor, and resilience, never allowing the disease to define him. He hoped to raise awareness of PSP and to support other families navigating the same journey.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Kathleen McKee Lange; children, Dr. Bobby Lange, Jr. (Lesley), Brooke Lange, and Hunter Lange; sisters, Alissa Williams (Theron) and Christina McArthur (Todd); his beloved brother-in-law and best friend, Donnie Carswell; devoted brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; as well as a large extended family and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lange residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bobby’s name to CurePSP, 325 Hudson Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10013, or online at www.psp.org.
