Richard Edwin Aylor's Obituary
Richard Edwin Aylor, 85, of Reva, peacefully went home on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born July 25, 1923 in Madison, VA to the late Richard Elzie Aylor and Annie Aylor.
Mr. Aylor enlisted in 1945 in the United States Army and served in the Pacific during WWII. He loved going to church and was a member of Novum Baptist. He enjoyed playing cards, animals, farming, watching baseball, listening to bluegrass music, his CB radio and most of all he loved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mattie Aylor, his children, Sandra Aylor Barnes and her husband, Joe of Fredericksburg and Connie Aylor Lawson and her husband, David Lee of Topping, VA, three grandchildren, Dana Jarrell Harty and her husband, Steve, Cody Justin Tinsley and Guy Barnes, two great grandchildren, Blake Lee Harty and Bryce Lynn Harty, and one sister-in-law, Edna Mossburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Russell Aylor, Edna Green, Annie Ruth Duncan, Arlene Brown and Douglas Aylor.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Freeman, Pastor Jeff Light, Pastor Josh Shifflett and Pastor Teddy Cave officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post # 330 and V.F.W. Post # 2524.
Pallbearers will be William Henshaw, Randy Henshaw, Mike Tanner, Bud Alger, Bruce Holt, Jube Henshaw, Edward Tanner and Russell Kilby.
Per Mr. Aylor’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 725 Gate Rd, Madison, VA 22727 &/or Madison Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 23, Madison, VA 22727.
