Richard Thomas Noonan Sr.'s Obituary
Richard “Dick” Thomas Noonan, Sr. at the age of 79, entered into eternal peace on Friday, December 26, 2014, at UVA Culpeper Hospital. Richard was born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 3, 1935 to the late Francis T. Noonan Sr. and Jean M. Noonan.
“Dick”, as he was commonly known, graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School in 1954, then began his 33 year career with C & P Telephone Company and retired from Bell Atlantic in 1987. Cempré Council 6328, he chaired the Kovar fundraiser for the mentally challenged, and served as Grand Knight for 2 terms. He enjoyed golf, football, hunting, and fishing, and as everyone knew, his bright red 1963 corvette. His later years were spent playing Yahtzee and cards with his wife and friends, and enjoying time spent with his children and grandsons. He was a kind and gentle soul, always cracking jokes, who was loved by all who knew him.
Dick leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife, Barbara A. Noonan of Culpeper, their son Richard T. Noonan Jr. of Culpeper, Va, and their daughter, Deborah O’Donnell and her husband James, of Houston, Texas, three grandsons, Brian O’Donnell and his wife Heather, Kevin O’Donnell, and his fiancé Olivia Stewart, Blake Noonan, and two great-grandsons Graham and Kasen O’Donnell. Dick is also survived by his sister, Cynthia Dillon and husband Lyle, sister-in-law Bettie Noonan, brother-in-law Cliff Austin and his wife Carolyn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.
