Richard Lee Nelson's Obituary
Richard Lee Nelson, 69, of Fredericksburg passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Richard first and foremost loved his wife and family. He enjoyed everything outdoors. Richard also had an artistic side he showed while performing in plays. He loved music and expressed that while singing in the church choir. Richard was a decorated Army Ranger, receiving two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and three commendations during his service. He will always be remembered for his charismatic attitude and his ability to make everyone around him laugh.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Donna Nelson; daughter, Christine Kelley Nelson of Fairfax, VA; son, Kregg Nelson (Jennie) of Texas; his five grandchildren, Logan, Jacob, Nikita, Luke, and Aiden; and many loved ones in West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Lambert and two brothers.
Richard’s family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 in the funeral home chapel.
