Richard Mumford
Richard Davis Mumford, 92, of Fredericksburg died Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Beverly Health Care Center.
Richard was born in Maryland to the late Charles and Frances Mumford.
He was a graduate of the University of Maryland and was an accountant for many years before retiring as vice president of J. Schoeneman a clothing manufacturer.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and received a victory ribbon. He was a past president of the Salisbury Jaycee's and enjoyed playing bridge.
Richard is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Sawan and her husband, Adam of Stafford County; a sister-in-law, Zaidee Mumford and a nephew, Ned Mumford, both of Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn T. Mumford and a son, Richard D. Mumford, Jr.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 11:00 am in Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Lung Association, 9221 Forrest Hill Avenue, Richmond, VA 23235.
