Richard Harold Haines' Obituary
Richard Harold Haines, 80, of Brandy Station passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at his home. He was born March 25, 1944 in Warrenton, VA to the late John and Viola Haines.
Richard grew up in Rappahannock County. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for R.L. Rider Construction Co. for 41 years. He was successful in his career because he was able to visualize the finished project before the excavating even began; hence he was always assigned to the most prestigious and difficult jobs.
After retirement in 2009, Richard found a hobby in small engine repair, serving the local community, which grew out of love. Richard never met a stranger. He liked tinkering in his shop, antiquing, going to yard sales and flea markets, playing BINGO with friends, and listening to bluegrass music. Richard and Hazel enjoyed spending time with each other, along with family and friends.
Richard is survived by the love of his life, his wife of over 50 years, Hazel; four children, Stacey Guillen (Jen), Pamela Glascock (Josh), Theresa Settle (Larry), and Linda Turner; six grandchildren, Matthew Guillen, Lee Glascock, Morgan Glascock, LB Settle, Lauren Williams (Justin), and John Turner; five great grandchildren, Jordan, Arya, Leah, Turner, and Olivia; and one brother, Elmer Haines (Becky). He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son-in-law, Lewis John Turner, III; and nine siblings, Virginia Hitt, Charles Turner Haynes, John Haines, Jr., William E. Haines, Mildred Smith, Thomas Russell Haines, Floyd “Buddy” Haines, Rosemary Haines, and Mary Anna Woodward.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Travis Jenkins officiating.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers serving the family will be his grandsons, Lee Glascock, Morgan Glascock, LB Settle, Jordan Glascock, Justin Williams, and John Turner.
