James H. Kyle
Aloha Dusty and family ... Jim Kyle here. So sorry to learn of Dick's passing. I have fond 1960's memories of our days back in the Photo Mapping business at Turner AFB GA. where we flew all over the world accomplishing geodetic projects. We experienced great camaraderie with you and Dick when preparing for golf outings back in then. Chuck Lyon, Jack Vollenweider and I would come to your house on base and you'd serve us breakfast before we went to play golf. Don't remember if we played very well but we bachelors sure enjoyed those tasty breakfasts. You guys were our favorite couple.
One memorable event I'll never forget regarding Dick was a phone call I received from him in June of 1970 relating the fantastic news that i had been selected for promotion to Colonel. It was a huge surprise and Hallelujah moment ... I sort of felt Dick was always looking out for me in a small way from his perch in higher headquarters.
I hope dick did not suffer long with this dreaded disease and the good Lord compassionately took him home. Am sure lovingly nursing Dick through this terrible ordeal has been tremendous strain you and your family ... i hope you find comfort in knowing you made his passing as peaceful as possible.
With greatest sympathy ....
Jim Kyle
