Rev. Sammie Yates' Obituary
Rev. Sammie Cemore Yates, 43, of Brandy Station, VA transitioned Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at his residence. He was born September 30, 1966 in Stafford, VA to Rosetta M. Calloway Greer and the late Milton H. Yates, Jr.
Rev. Yates loved preaching the gospel. He was the Associate Minister of Shady Grove Baptist Church where he was very active in teaching Sunday school and singing with the male chorus. He was a member of the Christian Education Department and the Church Executive Board. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and drag car racing.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rev. Annette Banks Yates, his daughter, Tierra Green, two stepchildren, Jeremy Turner and Elisha Green, and three grandchildren, Leilani Turner, Cheyenne Green and Dakota Turner, his grandmother, Rosily Yates, and brother, George A. Yates
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 21024 Piney Woods Rd., Orange, VA 22960. The viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
