Rebecca Dwyer Shade's Obituary
Rebecca Dwyer Shade, 89, of Culpeper died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Amerisist Assisted Living where she has resided for the last 6 years. Rebecca was born in Rappahannock County, VA on May 22, 1925. She was the daughter of the late David Marshall Dwyer and Nina Henrietta Bowen.
Rebecca graduated from Sperryville High School in Rappahannock County, and then graduated from Winchester Business College. She married her husband of the last 66 years, Ray Shade on March 12, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD. She worked at the local bank in Winchester, VA for four years. After moving to Falls Church, VA, she worked at Kann’s Department Store. Rebecca was a member of the Culpeper United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for several years at the Culpeper Hospital Auxiliary.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Ray Shade; one son, Kenneth Ray Shade and his wife, Rosemary Evans of Charlottesville, VA; one daughter, Susan Barentine and her husband, Robert of Conway, SC; one sister, Ruby Dwyer; and one brother, David Marshall Dwyer, Jr. both of Rappahannock, County, VA.
Two sisters predeceased her, Henrietta “Sally” Dwyer Keyser and Anne Dwyer both of Rappahannock County.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Randy Orndorff officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Washington Masonic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the UVA Culpeper Hospital Auxiliary, 501 Sunset Lane, Culpeper, VA 22701 &/or Culpeper United Methodist Church, 1233 Oaklawn Drive, Culpeper, VA 22701.
