Raymond F. Childress' Obituary
Raymond F. Childress, 83, of Elkwood passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015. He was born on November 14, 1931 in Culpeper to the late Willie and Lillie Childress.
Raymond had retired from the VA ABC Store after 25 years. He was an avid farmer and gardener.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, June Louise Childress; son, Steven Childress; daughter, Valerie Childress; sister, Willie Mae Anns and her husband, Kennedy Anns; grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Childress and Willie Wyatt Childress; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest son, Ralph Childress; and one sister, Hazel Bywaters.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 1 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Rev. Chaz Campbell officiating. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Mt. Holly Baptist Church building fund, 6172 Sumerduck Rd, Remington, VA 22734.
