Ralph L. Vick Jr.'s Obituary
Ralph L Vick Jr. went home to live with Jesus on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Ralph was born February 27, 1937, in Norwalk, Connecticut, to Ralph Vick and Shirley Pettit, both deceased.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sherry A. Vick, his sons, Chad Tudor and Dustin Vick, his sister, Phoebe-Jane Grubbs, nephews, Robert and Thomas Thacker and their families, and great-niece, Lindsey Branch.
Ralph graduated from high school in Louisa, Virginia and served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army from 1959-1962. He worked at Vulcan materials for 27 years, retiring in 1996.
In addition to being a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many, he was also devout Christian and active in the churches where he and Sherry belonged. He served as a deacon, greeter and volunteer groundskeeper at both Broad Run Baptist Church and Louisa Baptist Church. He also went on foreign and domestic mission trips including one to Panama with his wife, Sherry.
He was also an active member within the communities where he and his family lived, serving as a coach for soccer and as a Boy Scout Leader for his sons' Troops. He earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do from the Karate Sports Academy in Warrenton, Virginia. After his retirement, he continued to serve others by volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the Goshen Association, delivering food to underserved communities. He also worked with Disaster Relief of Virginia, where he would go into communities hit by natural disasters like hurricanes and tornadoes as a first responder.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2024 at Chancellor Baptist Church, 11324 Gordon Rd, Fredericksburg, where a memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chancellor Baptist Church for their Envision Building Program or The Tunnel to Towers Foundation which is committed to ending veteran homelessness.
