Rachel Marie Weatherholtz's Obituary
Rachel Marie Weatherholtz, 89, made her journey Home on August 21, 2019 at her residence in Rhoadesville, VA. Rachel was born December 15, 1929 in White Sulfur Springs, WV to Grace and Harry Peacoe.
At a young age, Rachel learned to nurture others, as she helped her mother care for her 11 siblings: Donald, George, Oakie, Jackie, Ruth, Mary, Anna Lee, Louise, Charles [Hilda], Iris [Larry], and David. In her late teenage years, Rachel met Ralph Weatherholtz, and together they built a large and loving family. Rachel and Ralph raised five children: Ralphie [Christine], Judy, Sharon, Shelby, and Diana; Rachel also helped raise seven stepchildren: Charles, Larry [Judy], Roy, Mike, Gary, Roger, and Linda; and one “adopted” daughter, Diana Ghee [Joe]. Her unconditional, endless love reached her 40+ grandchildren, 80+ great-grandchildren, and 30+ great-great grandchildren.
She was a Nurse’s Aide and Caretaker by trade, and when not at work, she was at home caring for others. Through the years, Rachel welcomed many folks into her home, accepting anyone at any time; it was typical to see one or two nieces, nephews, grandkids or family friends asleep on her couch or on a “pallet” on the floor. She enjoyed cooking big meals, canning veggies from Ralph’s garden, playing Bingo and poker, and spending time with family and friends. It is her love of God, her ability to nurture and love others unconditionally, her strength, and her outspoken personality that will be her legacy. Rachel was a faithful woman who valued and adored her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she lived her life in His image.
We know she is finally at peace with Him in Heaven, along with her parents, Grace and Harry; husband, Ralph; children Judy, Sharon, Charles, and Linda; siblings Donald, George, Oakie, Jackie, Ruth, Mary, Anna Lee, and Louise; and countless special family members and friends who preceded her in death – most recently her grandchildren Frank, Alana, Eric, and Regina.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Ron Young officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, Old Section.
