Rachel Hinton McAlister's Obituary
Rachel H. McAlister entered into God’s Kingdom peacefully on August 14, 2016 at her home in Culpeper Virginia surrounded by her family. Rachel is survived by her husband Mahlon O. McAlister (P’nut) and her four daughters, Audrey Hinton and her partner, Natalie Colley; Gin Green and her husband, Edward Green; Velvet McAlister and Ginger McAlister. She also leaves behind to lovingly cherish her memory are eight grandchildren; Joshua Creel and his wife, Jessica, Matthew Hinton, John D. Early, Rachel Hinton, Cristy Hinton, Jordyn O. Washington, Jacob Early, Justin Corbin and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Christopher Creel. She is also survived by her brother, Frederick Lloyd of Charlestown, West Virginia.
Rachel was born June 28, 1947 and was raised in Berkley County, West Virginia. December 3, 1974 she married Mahlon O. McAlister and continued to raise her family here in Culpeper, Virginia. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who sacrificed much for her family. She enjoyed and relished each one of them and celebrated their accomplishments with so much excitement and joy. Rachel had a long and successful career with McDonald Corporation in Culpeper, Virginia were she inspired many co-workers and became more than supervisor to so many. She also worked for the Culpeper Cosmetology Career Center where her infectious personality and love of life touched and inspired everyone she met. She was a leader and had a way about her that encouraged people to seek the best in themselves.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Dodson officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper.
There will be a reception at the Brandy Station Fire Hall, Brandy Station, Virginia immediately following the burial.
Donations can be offered to the CCVFD/BSVFD, American Cancer Society, and Heartland Hospice.
