Philip Lynn Comer's Obituary
Philip Lynn Comer, 67, of Culpeper, formerly of New Jersey, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Culpeper Hospital. He was born May 17, 1955 to Carlyle Philip Comer and the late Barbara Jean Comer in Roanoke, VA.
Philip was a graduate of the University of Virginia where he earned a B.A. in Biology and then went on to earn a Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia. He lived in many states throughout his life but longed to come back home to Virginia, which he finally was able to do. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and worked many years as a hospital administrator before becoming physically impaired. Though he had his challenges, he never let them stop him. His ability to reason, despite his impairment, was truly remarkable. He took pride in all that he endeavored, including his health. He made quinoa popular before the world did. Philip had very high standards, a strong faith, and a great relationship with the Lord. He was a master at gardening and took pride in his green thumb. Philip had a sense of humor that some would describe as “thinking humor.” The more you had to think about the joke, the more he appreciated it. Despite all the odds, he never gave up. His fight was relentless.
Philip is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pamela Meyers Comer; son, Benjamin Comer and wife, Larissa; granddaughters, Violet and Hazel Comer; his father, Carlyle Philip Comer; brother, Mark Comer; and a host of nieces and nephews and other extended family.
In addition to his mother, Barbara Jean, Philip is preceded in death by his sister, Debra McDaniel.
