Peter David Stanfar's Obituary
Peter Stanfar, 91 of Spotsylvania County passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Ethel Mae Stanfar; his daughter-in-law, Marci Stanfar; and two grandchildren, Michael Stanfar and Sarah Stanfar, all of Spotsylvania; a sister, Kay Moyes of New York; a sister-in-law, Margaret Stanfar of Ohio; a brother-in-law, Ralph Cleaveland of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.
Peter was preceded in death by three sons, David, Michael and Joseph.
He served during World War II as a Seabee in the Navy in the Pacific area. He retired as a cartographer for the Army Map Service in 1979.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a gathering of family and friends at the home. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in his name to the Mary Washington Hospital Foundation to benefit palliative medicine unit, 1001 Sam Perry Blvd., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
