Pearl Ann Rankin's Obituary
Pearl Ann Rankin, 78, of Culpeper, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born January 19, 1933 and raised in Brandy Station, VA to the late Bossie and Fannie Utterback Payne.
Mrs. Rankin was a member of Midland Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed traveling, caring for others and was an avid animal lover having had numerous animals throughout her life. She loved and cherished her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Alton Rankin, Sr., three children, Lawrence Lee Sowers of Madison, Katherine Pendleton and her husband, Tom of Madison, and Carolyn Rankin Georgiades and her husband, George of Culpeper, four siblings, Robert Payne, Charles “Buddy” Payne, Jean Payne and Ruth Jones, and one daughter-in-law, Karen Rankin of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include six grandchildren, Stephanie, Angie, Amberly, Jordan, Jonathan and Megan, two step grandchildren, Nicos and Elisha, four great grandchildren, Dustin, Dylan, Davis and Danielle and special companion, her Labrador “Summer.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Rankin Jr., and four siblings, Bernard Payne, Harry Payne, Irene Poffinbarger and James Payne.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Midland Church of the Brethren, 10434 Old Carolina Rd., Midland, VA 22728 with Pastor Timothy Monn officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
