Paul L. Reeves' Obituary
Paul L. Reeves, 86, of Culpeper VA, died Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on June 20, 1936, in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma to the late Wayne P. Reeves and Muriel Scally Cooper.
Paul received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Oklahoma Baptist University. He then served in several management positions in the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Bureau of Mines. He culminated his federal career as an Undersecretary of the Department of Interior. Following his government service, he had a career as a commercial and residential real estate broker.
Paul was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church, where he volunteered in several ministries over the years. He served as a lay pastor for both the Fairfax County youth corrections facilities and the Coffeewood regional youth and adult corrections facility. He believed strongly in supporting his community through a variety of volunteer activities, including the Angel Tree.
His passions included biblical scholarship, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren.
Paul is survived by two children, Paul Leslie Reeves (Betsy B.) and Kelly Bonita Lambert (David W.); six grandchildren, Miles W. Lambert (Aimee J.), Devin M. Reeves (Jessica L.), Nicholas B. Reeves (Kinley T.), Ryan M. Lambert, Alexander W. Reeves, and Paul Isaac Reeves; and six great grandchildren, Savanna M. Reeves, Devin M. Reeves Jr., Alice K. Lambert, Oliver C. Reeves, Evan W. Lambert, and Amelia B. Reeves; and his brother, Ronald W. Reeves.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Nan Smith Reeves; two children, William Wayne Reeves and Julie Evelyn Reeves; and his sister, Anita Reeves Morris.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 S West St, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Dan Carlton officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. Reception will be at Culpeper Baptist Church following interment services.
