Paul Lawrence McBride's Obituary
Paul Lawrence McBride, 85, of Madison, NC, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center in Richmond, VA.
Paul McBride was born May 30, 1934 in Crumpler, WV, to the late William Moir McBride and Beatrice Spencer McBride. He attended Elkhorn High School, Bluefield State College, and Howard University where he obtained an electrical engineering degree. Upon graduating, he worked at various jobs, including the US Patent and Trademark Office, Washington DC.
Mr. McBride served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Paul McBride is survived by his daughter, Pamela McBride, of Seat Pleasant, MD; his siblings, Richard, of Bayside, NY, Phoebe Burke, of Stone Mountain, GA, Martha (Bonnie), of Welch, WV, Patricia Burnette, of Decatur, GA, Jeanette Hunter, of Washington, DC, and Marie Kirkland, of Detroit, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, including Carlton and Marie Priddy of Madison, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lincoln, Thomas, Charles (Jake), Arthur (Bully), David, Alfred, John Henry, Robert Moir, Anne Johnson, Mamie Johnson, Gladys Johnson, and Betty Belcher.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paul’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, at stjude.org/donate.
