Paul Frederick's Obituary
Paul H. Frederick, (born Hubert Paul Frederick), 87, of Sterling died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Fairfax Hospital following a brief illness. Paul was born October 21, 1922 in Baltimore, MD to the late Mabel A. Frederick and Lloyd Frederick. His brother, Lloyd P. Frederick, and sister, Joan Sturkie, have predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Margaret Frederick (nee Mann), currently of Sterling, VA, as well as his three children, Gary Frederick of California, Paula Smith and Donna Alvarez, both of North Carolina, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Paul and Mary were long time residents of Boston and Culpeper. They moved to Sterling in August of 2009, where Mary will continue to live.
Paul served bravely and honorably with the U.S. Army during WWII, fought in Italy, France and Germany, and received numerous decorations and citations, including; Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Medal, Easter Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and Occupational Medal. Paul was discharged from the Army with the rank of Captain and later attained the rank of Major during his reserve service.
A memorial service for Paul will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National (New) with military honors provided by Culpeper American Legion Post # 330 and V.F.W. Post # 2524.
