Patricia Ann Marie Bixhorn's Obituary
Pat Bixhorn
Pat passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 of ovarian cancer
A Business Adm. graduate from Rutgers University, Pat worked as Spanish translator for RCA International, and later as Wage & Salary Coordinator for RCA Victor Recording Studios in New York City. While living in Tokyo, she attended Sophia University to continue her studies in literature. The 19th Century English Novel was her special area of interest, and she ultimately received a 2nd degree in English Lit. from GMU. Intrigued by the life and choices of Robert E. Lee during the Civil War, Pat was a volunteer docent at the Lee Boyhood Home in Alexandria until the beautiful home was sold into private hands.
Pat spent more than 30 years in the airline industry, starting in Lufthansa’s Indianapolis Sales office and later moving to Allegheny/USAir for 10 years. USAir transferred her to the Washington Executive Offices in 1973. In the early ‘80s she moved to United Airlines where she spent nearly 20 very happy years. At United, Pat served in many capacities within the Mid-Atlantic Reservations Office. She worked on compiling and codifying baggage service procedures and training Bag Desk personnel, as well as serving on the travel agency and international sales desks and in various administrative positions.
After retiring from United, Pat worked for 5 years for Red Capital Group in Reston, VA.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Herb, her precious children Lisa, Sonya (Mitch) and Ari (Carly), and her grandchildren Joshua and Jessica.
