I am blessed to have had such a beautiful friend as Pat Ammons! Our friendship began nearly 20 years ago at Emerald Hill. As a resource teacher without students the first week of school, I was assigned the duty of helping the K teachers with their little ones. We forged a friendship almost instantly.
Pat was an exceptional teacher. She loved her students and they loved her! Her classroom was a warm, loving, and fun place where ALL the children were made to feel loved and special. In fact, everyone who knew Pat can say that she welcomed us into her life in the same way--we all felt special because she made us feel special.
She was a genuine friend: someone to laugh with, cry with, and pray with. Her laughter, love, and encouragement were such a blessing! It was amazing how we could pick right up from the last time we were together--like it was simply the day before. We spent over 3 hours on what should have been a 20 minute walk back in April, most of it on a bench talking! What a wonderful time of fellowship!
Pat lived out her Christian faith daily (Colossians 3:12-17) and her example inspires me to live and love others each day as she did.
The memorial service was beautiful. Pat would have been so proud of her grandchildren and niece, and she would have loved how humorous Michael, Katie, Jeff, and Jim were.
I can imagine her smile and her sweet tears at all the compliments and her laughter at all the humorous anecdotes! (She had such a tender heart--like you, Katie.)
My heartfelt condolences to Jim and the family,
Diane Frazier
