Owen Q. Cubbage's Obituary
Owen Quaintance Cubbage, 90, of Culpeper went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at his residence. He was born March 7, 1918 in Rappahannock County to the late Thomas Aldridge Cubbage and Virgie Lee Cubbage.
Mr. Cubbage was a faithful member of Black Oak Regular Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for over fifty years as well as being a trustee. He enjoyed gardening and building and was a well known logger. Above all, he cherished his family and church and was loved by everyone who met him.
Mr. Cubbage is survived by his children, Barbara Tharp, and her husband, Harvey of Culpeper, Joan Embrey and her husband, Richard of Bealeton, Jerry Cubbage and his wife, Darlene of Culpeper, Terry Cubbage and his wife, Hazel of Culpeper, Kay Boutchyard and her husband, Bobby of Rhoadesville, Ronnie Cubbage and his friend, Loretta Sacra of Culpeper, and Larry Cubbage and his wife, Doris of Culpeper, fourteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Catherine Cubbage, four brothers, Oakley, Giles, Louie and Edward Cubbage, and two sisters, Cecile Lewis and Lizzie Grigsby.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Black Oak Regular Baptist Church with Elder Wayne Richards officiating.
Interment will follow in Black Oak Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Tharp, Kevin Embrey, Clinton Cubbage, Sr., Greg Boutchyard, Stefan Boutchyard, Terry Cubbage, Jr., Rodney Cubbage, Patrick Cubbage and Jimmy Cubbage.
