Otis L. Newton's Obituary
Otis L. Newton, 69, of King George, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Otis graduated from Randolph Macon College in 1972 with honors, was a member of the Phi Beta Kapa fraternity and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
Otis made a career working for the Federal Government in various positions and eventually retiring from the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2004.
Otis is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beverley; two sons, Justin Wade Newton and his wife Chelle of Winchester, Monte Duane Newton and his wife Tracy of King George; a daughter, Lori Maree Newton of King George; his beloved mother-in-law, Elizabeth M. Rose of King George; a brother, Lee Newton and his wife Mildred of Stafford; three sisters, Irene Newton, Linda Vickers both of Spotsylvania, Carolyn Powell of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren, Randy, Ben, Jamie, Joey, Brett, Makenna, Karsyn and Elise and his beloved pets.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwell and Margaret Newton; a sister, Parthenia and his niece Leahcim.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm, Tuesday July 12, 2011 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels – Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 13 at Zoan Baptist Church Cemetery, 5888 Plank Road, Fredericksburg with the Rev. Tim Dobson and Rev. Brenda Bourne officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in Otis’ name to the King George County Department of Emergency Services, 10459 Courthouse Drive, King George, VA 22485
