Oscar G. Mayes,Jr.'s Obituary
Oscar Glenn Mayes, Jr., 73, of Jeffersonton died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Fauquier Hospital. He was born April 2, 1938 in West Virginia to the late Oscar Glenn Mayes, Sr. and Hazel Mayes.
He is survived by his wife, Kay F. Mayes, six children, David G. Mayes and his wife, Virginia of Culpeper, William Kelly Mayes and his wife, Jane Annette of Culpeper, Lorie Kay Dodd and her husband, Brian of Marshall, Carrie Frances Mayes of Strasburg, Oscar Glenn Mayes, III and his wife, Sue of Reva and Robert Stephen Mayes and his wife, Melody of Jeffersonton.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Jennifer Bennett of Valrico, FL and Linda Houchens of Burke, VA, twenty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Vivian Mayes whom raised him and who he knew as “mom”, one brother, Johnny J. Mayes and one grandchild, Tonya E. Mayes.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Alum Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Young officiating.
