Oscar Kenneth Creasy Sr.'s Obituary
Oscar Kenneth Creasy Sr. age 92, passed away suddenly at his residence in Fredericksburg, VA on December 10, 2025. He was born August 3, 1933 in Albermarle, Virginia to his late parents Melvin C. Creasy and Mary Lucy Creasy.
Oscar grew up on the Creasy Family farm in Fluvanna, Virginia attending Fluvanna High School until enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. He served with distinction as a weapons technician in Korea where he survived an insurgent attack and was wounded while arming aircraft weapons for a mission the following day. He was taken to Japan where he endured multiple surgeries to save his right hand, and once able he volunteered to return to Korea to complete his enlistment. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Upon completing his enlistment, he returned home to Virginia as an A2C, Airmen Second Class.
He began his civilian career driving Street Cars in Washington, D.C. for D.C. Transit alongside his eldest brother James Lewis. It was during this time that he met his first wife of 42 years, Mary Emma Johnson Creasy adopting two of her children, Rita Jane (Chiles) and Anthony Ricardo. He subsequently returned to school completing his GED while training as a draftsman at night while working as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He later secured a job with the government as a draftsman and spent three years at the Naval Base in North Charleston, South Carolina where he welcomed his son Oscar Kenneth Creasy II into the world. He would later return to Northern Virginia working for Night Vision Laboratories at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.
Oscar would go on to build a home in Fredericksburg where he raised his family until his retirement from Night Vision Labs in 1987. During that time, he enjoyed helping to work on the family farm in Fluvanna and cutting firewood to supplement his income. He was also a member of the Virginia High School league football official’s association where he served as a Head Linesman officiating hundreds of local high school football games in the region. He would later go on to work with his adopted son Ric to build homes for Affordable Builders out of Tappahannock, Virginia. He rekindled his love of driving by renewing his Class A commercial license driving school buses for Spotsylvania County. His wife Mary Emma passed in 2000.
He was active in the local VFW and later Spotsylvania American Legion Post 320 where he served as the Color Guard Commander providing various patriotic services to the community to include parades and funerals for veterans. He would find love again and marry Ingeborg Chandler Creasy of Fredericksburg who survives him. During the last 24 years Oscar and Inga were active in the VFW and American Legion supporting countless patriotic events and service to the community. His love of country was on full display wherever he traveled as indicated by his personalized license plate on his van - IAM AMR (I am American (ticker symbol for American Airline)). He and Inga would go on to travel the world with trips to her homeland Germany and a special 50th Anniversary event in Seoul, South Korea for surviving veterans of the Korean War.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Ingeborg Chandler Creasy; brother, Miles M. Creasy (Wanda); son, COL Oscar Kenneth Creasy II (MaryElizabeth); daughter, Rita Jane Chiles (Bob); stepdaughters, Agnes Dunn (Alan), and Dianne Chandler (David Montgomery); grandchildren, Nicholaus K. Creasy, Nathaniel K. Creasy (April), Heather Dunn, Jason Dunn, Paul Dunn (Elissa), Bailey Bell (Brooke), Brittany Montgomery, Robert E Chiles IV, Maria Theresa Chiles, Cassie Chiles, Natalia Williams, and Zach Williams; great-grandchildren, Troy Garth Creasy, Mallory Ray Creasy, Katelyn Ruyter, Thomas Ruyter, Clara Dunn, Clover Dunn, Sylvan Dunn, Bliss Bell, Jagger Bell, Javaney Chandler, Emily (Mia) Chandler, and Ricky Chandler. Also surviving Oscar are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members across the nation.
In addition to his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by his siblings, James Lewis Creasy, Lottie Tate, Edna Haislip, Bernice Haislip, Matilda Schultz, and Janice Creasy; son, Anthony Ricardo Creasy (Carol); stepson, Richard and Tameke Chandler, and Dr. Gregory Howard Williams.
A special thanks to Dianne and the entire Chandler/Dunn family for providing outstanding care through the years with multiple doctor and hospital visits where Ken was well known for wit, humor and childlike stubbornness.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, with Father Kevin O’Keefe officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle.
