Ollie Haywood Settle,Jr.'s Obituary
Ollie Haywood Settle, Jr., 65, of Elkwood died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 10, 1946 in Culpeper to the late Ollie Haywood Settle, Sr. and Alberta Frazier Settle.
Mr. Settle retired from VDOT after 35 years of service. He loved to pitch horseshoes, hunt and fish and was known to his family as “Froggy”, but to his friends and CB friends he was “Big Al” or “Al Kapone”. You could normally find him sitting on the front porch or at the head of the table watching TV and loved cooking for his children and grandchildren. He loved to have fun and loved life and was friends with everyone he met. He lived the words that he spoke “make sure you make good impressions and lasting memories cause that’s all that’s left of you when you’re gone”.
He is survived by four children, Craig Wesley Settle, Sr. of Elkwood, Ginger Settle Smith of Culpeper, Kayce Marie Settle of Lignum and Gary Phillip Morris, Jr. and his wife, Anita Mae of Culpeper, and two siblings, Gloria Myers and Bernard Settle, Sr. and his wife, Helen “Kee” Settle, and one sister-in-law, Judy Settle.
Additional survivors include eleven grandchildren, Craig Wesley Settle, Jr., Corey Randolph Settle, Cambrie Lyne Settle and Cayden Thomas Settle, all of Rixeyville, Justin Dwayne Smith and Jordan Dakota Smith, both of Culpeper, Branden Kyle Myers and Kylie Marie Myers, both of Lignum, and Gary Phillip “Trey” Morris, III, Skylar Nicole Morris and Dylan Chad Morris, all of Culpeper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Carl H. Settle, Burnett Settle and Kenny Settle, and one brother-in-law, Jesse Myers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Dodson officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery
