Nicholas J. Flora, 98, a retired banker and volunteer, died October 4 at the Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville, Virginia after a stroke.
Mr. Flora worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City. He rose to the position of supervisor in the International Collections department before retiring after 44 years of service in 1970.
He moved to Jensen Beach, Florida in 1972 with his beloved wife, Anne, and daughter Dorothy. He lead a very active life in retirement as a volunteer fireman for Jensen Beach. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8048 at St. Martin de Porres Church. He was the founder and long time manager of the St. Martin de Porres Thrift Store.
His wife, Anne Rose Flora, died in 1978.
He is survived by a sister, Eleanor Rado of Pequanic, NJ, two daughters, Dorothy Flora of Port St. Lucie, FL, Beverly Canning and husband John of Haymarket, VA, three grandsons, John Canning, Michael Canning and wife Adrianne, Thomas Canning and wife Hope, and six great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin de Porres Church in Jensen Beach, FL at a later date.
