Nellie Elizabeth Jenkins' Obituary
Nellie Elizabeth Jenkins, 93, of Madison, died Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Autumn Care Nursing Home. She was born August 1, 1931, in Rappahannock to the late Lemuel and Leila Smoot.
Nellie was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church and loved reading her Bible on a daily basis. Her whole family was talented and self-taught at playing the guitar and keyboard. They enjoyed dancing and singing bluegrass and gospel music. Nellie was a good cook, an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed gardening. She truly loved being a stay-at-home mom, and later being a caretaker for both of her parents.
She is survived by her children, Benjamin “Randy” Jenkins, Jr., Patricia “Patti” Elizabeth Fitch (Chuck), and Diane Frances Wynham (Stuart); three grandchildren, Christopher Jenkins, Declan Wynham, and Garrett Wynham (Ashley); five great, grandchildren, Braxton Wynham, Maddox Wynham, Jude Wynham, Kingston Benjamin Wynham, and Gavin Wynham; and one sister, Bess Hilton.
In addition to her parents, Nellie is preceded in death by her soulmate and husband of 60 years, Benjamin Randolph Jenkins, Sr.; seven brothers, Isaiah Smoot, Robert Jackson Smoot, W. F. Smoot, C. H. Smoot, Keith Smoot, David Owen Smoot, and Asa Smoot; and one sister, Leila Mary Brooks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church, 6328 Hoover Rd, Reva, VA 22735 with Pastor Adam Meisberger officiating.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA.
