Nancy R. Moynihan's Obituary
Nancy Moynihan
Nancy Christine Rask Moynihan, daughter of Henry George and Carolyn Curtis Rask, was born May 3, 1921, in Jamestown NY. She took her last breath at home surrounded by love on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, in Fredericksburg VA.
This gorgeous woman was a faithful wife to her husband Robert; they were married for almost 50 years before his decease. She was a loving mother to her four children, Robert C., Jr., of Gunnison CO, Carolyn Ann of Fredericksburg VA, Christine Nell of Westerville OH, and Kim Moynihan McCaw of Westerville OH.
All of her children survive her as well as one daughter-in-law, Dorothy W. Moynihan, one son-in-law, Kenneth J. McCaw, and her loving caregiver and friend, Callie Foster. She is survived by five grandchildren (Brian Moynihan, Drew & Stacey Lipscomb, and Kasey Shicks & Kristina McCaw) and six great grandchildren (Charlie, Nathan, & Summer Moynihan, Garrett Lipscomb, and Jordan & Virginia Shicks).
Nancy was an unselfish and outstanding woman. Her kindness and laughter were enjoyed by all. She went to work for the federal government in 1962 after being an at-home mother for 15 years. She was a temporary worker in an agency until her skills and abilities were recognized as vital for that agency – and she was hired as a full-time employee. She worked there for over 20 years and served as a consultant after retirement. She was the first female lay reader in her church, St. Luke’s Episcopal in Alexandria VA. She helped many people throughout her life and when she and her husband moved to Sarasota FL in retirement, she volunteered at the St. Wilfred’s Episcopal Church in many capacities. In Fredericksburg she was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Throughout her life she enjoyed working with various forms of art, playing bridge with friends, spending time on the golf course, reading and solving crossword puzzles, and she was a continuous support to her family and friends, no matter what the circumstances.
She called Fredericksburg her home for her last nine years, being tenderly watched over by her caregiver, Callie, and her faithful daughter, Carolyn. Her life was an inspiration for us all and she is sorely missed.
A spring memorial service will be planned.

The comfort of God is very plainly stated in the Bible: I Thessalonians 4:13-18 and I Corinthians 15:51-58. When Christ returns, those who are dead in Christ shall be raised. Those of us who are alive and remain shall be shall be changed. All of us will have new bodies and we will meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. This hope is the anchor of our souls and the comfort of our lives.
