Nancy Jean Compton's Obituary
Nancy Jean Compton, 59, of Castleton, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2009, surrounded by family. She was born May 26, 1949 in Oakland, Maryland to the late Earle Glotfelty and the late Virginia Enlow Glotfelty.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, William R. “Sam” Compton, her children, Beth Graves of Culpeper, Shannon Jolliffe and her husband, Tyson, of Rixeyville, Wanda Compton and her husband, Luther, of Culpeper, , William Compton and his wife Sheree of Castleton, Andrew Compton of Castleton, Roxanne Snow of Orange, and Sammy Clore and his wife, Robin, of Charlottesville.
Additional survivors include a brother, M. Ross Glotfelty and his wife, Linda, of Swanton, Maryland, and two sisters, Louise Bond and her husband, Richard, of McHenry, Maryland and Eileen Wahl of Accident, Maryland. She is also survived by twelve treasured grandchildren and five cherished great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earle Glotfelty, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 25, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia.
A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Found and Sons chapel with Pastor Ross Glotfelty and Chester Caudill officiating.
Interment will follow at the family cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Graves, Leonard Peters, Jim Crocker, Jeff Harvey, Chris Clatterbuck and Doug Tasker. Honorary pallbearers will be William A. Compton, Jr. and Trenton A. Graves.
