Nancy Jean Johnson's Obituary
Nancy Jean Johnson, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, creative heart, and deep, abiding love for her family.
Born on March 4, 1960 in Manassas, Virginia, Nancy lived a life shaped by compassion, creativity and quiet strength. She loved to write, garden, and create art, and music held a special place in her heart. She shared that love of music with her children and continued to nurture it in the lives of her grandchildren, leaving a legacy that will carry on through generations.
Nancy’s greatest joy was simply watching her children and grandchildren play and be happy. She found fulfillment in the small, sacred moments, laughter, togetherness and the simple beauty of family life.
She was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith in the Savior and her belief in the Plan of Salvation was central to her life and a source of strength, hope and peace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Johnson, and her brother Robert Phipps.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Lynn Pierce, Eric Anthony Young, and Michael Young; her cherished grandchildren and her siblings, Marie Howell, Sharon Posey, Christine Connwell, Leland Phipps, James Phipps and Adam Phipps.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul David Johnson, her parents, Robert and Helen Phipps and brother-in-law, Leon Howell.
Nancy will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet resilience, and the love she poured into her family. Her influence will continue to be felt through the lives she touched and the music, creativity, and faith she passed on to those she loved.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January, January 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 420 Willow Lawn Drive, Culpeper, VA, with Bishop Bowler officiating. The family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
