Nancy Gregory's Obituary
Nancy Gregory, beloved wife of Rafael M. Nigaglioni (Tito) and loving mother of Rafa and Angie, passed away peacefully in Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge, Virginia on September 7, 2009. She was born in San German, Puerto Rico on January 23, 1918 to Enrique Gregory and Adela Quintana. She grew up with five siblings, including four sisters and one brother. She is survived by one sister, Nellie, her son and daughter, her son-in-law, four grandchildren, one great -grandson, many nieces and nephews, and their children. Her heart seemingly had room for everyone and she will live forever in the fondest memories of so many people. She is surely with God and our savior, Jesus Christ, and all the angels and saints.
Nancy was the godmother and a second mother to Frank, and was a wonderful grandmother (Abuela) to Anna, Frankito, Jackie, and Elaine. She became known as “Bela” to her first granddaughter, Anna, and to the entire family as well as many of our friends. Nancy was a deeply religious woman. She believed in the power of prayer and joyfully attended the Baptism of Dylan even as she neared the end of her life. When she could no longer attend Mass, she chose to watch the Mass daily on the Eternal Word Television Network. Her heartfelt prayers were always for others and she is probably still saying the rosary for us. Her last book, given to her from Kito, was about the life of Mother Angelica.
Bela enjoyed good conversation, reading, cooking, sewing, cutting and arranging beautiful flowers. She felt passionately about the issues of today and yearned so much for world peace, free of poverty and war. She loved to listen to her favorite Latin music from the 40’s and 50’s and cooked the best arroz con pollo and pinon that you have ever tasted! Her Christmas specialty, coquito, will be imitated many times during reunions with family and friends that she so loved. We will miss her dearly, but will always celebrate her life that we were blessed to have shared with her.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers.
