Nancy Chilcott's Obituary
Nancy Glenes Green Chilcott, 85, of Fredericksburg passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Fredericksburg, October 23, 1923, to the late Roy and Della Rives Green.
Nancy graduated from James Monroe High School in 1941 where she was the Senior Class President, a drum majorette and the 1941 Virginia State Champion Twirler. Mrs. Chilcott graduated from mary Washington College with a major in Home Economics with an emphasis on nutrution.
After college Mrs. Chilcott married Stuart Ross Chilcott on April 3, 1947. After raising her daughters, Nancy worked as a wedding consultant. Nancy was a lifetime member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church.
She was a founding member of the Mary Ball Women’s Club. She was a member of the Fredericksburg Area Museum and a charter member of the College Heights Swimming Pool and the Rod and Gun Club of Fredericksburg. She was a tribal member of the Patawomeck Indians of Virginia.
Mrs. Chilcott was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Stuart Chilcott and her brothers, Aubrey Green and Roy Green.
She is survived bby a sister, Louise Wright; two daughters, Carol Jeanne Hartmaier and her husband, Robert of Monroe Township, NJ and Lynda Anne Hammel and her husband, Roger of Herndon, VA; four granddaughters, Amy Kormann, Beth April, Jennifer Hammel and Natalie Hammel and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11:00 am at Fredericksburg Baptist Church. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers Mrs. Chilcott’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in memory of Nancy Chilcott to Fredericksburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 4101, Fredericksburg, VA 22402 or to Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 1019 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
