Muriel Florence Mitchell's Obituary
Muriel Florence (née Morrison) Mitchell, 67, of Fredericksburg, went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2024.
Muriel was born on October 14, 1956, to Doris and Cyrus Morrison in Fredericksburg. After Muriel graduated from James Monroe High School in 1975, she married the love of her life John E Mitchell.
Muriel and John had two wonderful boys. They lived as a military family until they finally settled back in the Fredericksburg area in the early 1990s. While in the military, she met her best friend/sister Kathy Moody.
Muriel worked off and on in childcare until she retired. Although she never really did retire she just became a caregiver to anyone who needed it. She made sure that no one went without. She was there for anyone who needed her, always offering herself up to help out.
She was a true believer in her Lord and invited anyone to come to church with her. She wanted to share her joy for the lord and her church family.
She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her light
and joy.
Muriel was preceded in death by her mother Zola Doris Morrison and her father Cyrus Morrison.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years John E. Mitchell; her sons, John Mitchell Jr., (Christine) and Andrew Mitchell; her precious grandsons, Dylan Major and his significant other Giovanna, Xavier Mitchell, Xander Mitchell and Rylan Mitchell; her sister, Kathy Moody; niece, Kandy Miller (Dave); granddaughters, Liz Drash, Alexandra Drash, her significant other, Tyler, Victoria Drash, and her significant other Matt; her great-grandchildren Parker, Paisley, Luke, Jasper, Atlas and Edwin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Xavier Mitchell, David Miller, Matt Darling, George Major Jr. Scott Teter and Bryan Ball.
