Mona Gail Dodson's Obituary
Mona Gail Willie Dodson, loving mother, wife, “Mam-maw”, sister, aunt, and friend to so many, lost her brave fight with Pancreatic Cancer on March 29, 2011 at her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Mona was born in Martin, TN on July 4th, 1951 to Madelyn E. Willie Curtis and James H. Willie. She married Larry D. Dodson in Culpeper, VA on August 4, 1985. Mona had a passion for decorating and making things look beautiful. She enjoyed reading, shopping, crime shows on TV, but more than anything it was the time spent with her three grandchildren that she adored. She spread that love as “Nanny” to so many more children as owner and operator of Kids Shop. She attended church at Bible Baptist Church of Culpeper, VA.
Survivors include: her husband, Larry; one son, Tom Sliger and fiancé, Samantha Wood and grand-daughter, Taylor; one daughter, Melynda Suthard and fiancé, Daniel Bristol and grandsons, Dane and Tyler; one sister, Darlyne Baker, and husband Larry, of Raysal, WV; four brothers: Dean Pasker and wife Nancy, of LaPlata, MD; Stephen Curtis, of Culpeper, VA; David Curtis and wife Kelly, of Beaufort, SC; and Robert Curtis, of Lenoir, NC; seven nieces and two nephews.
Mona is preceded in death by both parents; her grandmother, Rachel Wallace, and one sister, Betty Jean.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Yowell and Pastor Bruce Fincham officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mona’s four brothers; Dean, Steve, David, and Rob; her brother-in-law, Larry; and grandson, Dane.
