Miriam Lloyd Halsey's Obituary
On July 11, 2019, Miriam Lloyd Halsey, age 78, of Culpeper, Virginia passed from this world after an extended battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russ, and her parents, Daniel Boone Lloyd Jr. and Mazie C. Lloyd.
Born April 16, 1941 in N.W. Washington D.C., Miriam was a graduate of the University of Delaware and Cornell Universities. A lover of God, music and theater, “Mighty Mo” gave tirelessly of her talent and treasure.
Miriam was a pillar of Culpeper United Methodist Church and graced the congregation there with her angelic voice every Sunday. She loved to sing and showcased her voice in numerous choirs around the area, including the Blue Ridge Choral of Culpeper, Bel Canto Ensemble of Madison, and Madison Choral Society. She was also a Culpeper Colonel, a Culpeper Citizen of the Year, a Culpeper Museum board member, State Theatre patron and board member and benefactor of countless organizations and individuals. There are few corners of Culpeper that will not feel the loss of this angel.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Culpeper United Methodist Church, 1233 Oaklawn Drive, Culpeper, VA. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will be at the Flying Point Cemetery in Southampton, Long Island, New York next to her beloved Russ.
Flowers are welcome. Memorial contributions may also be made to: Hospice of the Piedmont, Bel Canto Vocal Ensemble of Madison, or Culpeper United Methodist Church.
