Mildred Lena Brown Imlay's Obituary
Mildred Lena Brown Imlay, 97, of Culpeper died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community. She was born on June 29, 1912 in Oakpark, VA to the late Wade and Lena Herndon Brown.
Mrs. Imlay retired as a secretary from the Bureau of Customs after 25 years. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Bethel Baptist Church in Reva.
She is survived by her children, Mildred D. Wieser, Linwood J. Imlay and his wife, Marlene and John H. Imlay and his wife, Carol Ann all of Leon, VA.
Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Karen Christesen and her husband, Richard, James E. Embree, Jr. and his wife, Sue, Duane “Tom” Imlay and his wife, Diana, John Imlay and his wife, Joann, Tim Imlay and Diana Imlay, her great grandchildren, Michael Christesen and his wife, Mary, Jason Christesen and his wife, Julie, Katie Embree, Michelle Embree, Samantha Imlay, Josh Imlay, Sarah Imlay and Jennifer Imlay, and her great-great grandchildren, Leah Christesen, Caitlin Christesen, Hannah Imlay and Hayleigh Imlay.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan T. Imlay and her siblings, James B. Brown, Sonoro H. Crawford and Mary Elsie Beckert.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Adam Meisberger and Rev. Kenneth Huneycutt.
Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Ave. Suitland, MD 20746.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
