Mildred L. Yancey's Obituary
Mildred Lois Atkinson Yancey, 73, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. She was born July 19, 1936 in Bethesda, MD to the late Harry and Edna Bernside Atkinson.
Mrs. Yancey was a beloved wife, mother and sister. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved helping the elderly through home nursing.
She is survived by her children, Carol E. Knighting of Culpeper, Truman T. Yancey of Culpeper and Kelly Y. Poole of Bristow, VA, one brother, Joseph Atkinson of Florida, seven grandchildren, Georgia L. Yancey, Ronald K. Norman, Angela Norman, Johnny C. Wharton, Matthew W. Yancey, Justin L. Gooch and Ethan L. Berry, two great grandchildren, Devin B. Dodson and Christopher W. Settle, and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert A. Yancey, one son, Ronald C. Norman, four siblings, Edward Atkinson, Frances Cotton, William Atkinson and Johnny Atkinson, two grandchildren, Amy S. Yancey, Todd Yancey and one great grandson, Tristan Dyer.
A time of celebration will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends after the service until 9 p.m.
Burial will be private.
