Michael Peter Rybitski's Obituary
Michael Peter Rybitski, 87, of Culpeper, died Sunday, August 21, 2022 at his home. He was born July 5, 1935 in Scranton, PA to the late Michael and Anna Rybitski.
From an early age, Mike excelled in sports. A list of his athletic accomplishments include football, basketball, baseball, hockey and even bowling. Mike was a US Army veteran. While stationed in Okinawa Japan, Mike was the first baseman for the Army baseball team. Later in life he enjoyed tennis and then found a true passion for golf.
Mike and his family moved to Culpeper, VA in the late 1970’s to further his career at ITT Teves, where he was the production control and materials manager. Traveling was part of the job. It gave him the opportunity to visit many places in the US, Canada and Europe as well.
Mike loved the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping or just relaxing on the patio. Animals brought him much joy. He formed unbreakable bonds with all of his pets. He was also a great carpenter who loved to build things. If something was broken, he could fix it.
To Mike, family was everything. He was a fun and loving man, who enjoyed making people laugh. He loved life and lived every day to its fullest. He will forever be missed and remembered as a truly special soul who touched so many.
Mike is survived by his fiancé, Joyce Hardy; daughter, Marci Rybitski (Michael Richards); sister, Marianne Bryant; grandchildren, Chris Rybitski, Andrew Rybitski (Monica), and Sarah Rybitski; great grandchildren, Grace and Charlie Rybitski; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Baranski Rybitski; two sons, Mark Rybitski and Michael Rybitski, III; stepmother, Mitzi Rybitski; and brothers, Robert Rybitski and George Rybitski.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper VA 22701. The family invites those unable to attend to watch via livestream at https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1661376876204213
Liturgy of the word will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Father Kevin Walsh officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery (Old Section), 305 US Avenue, Culpeper, VA 22701. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2524 and the US Army.
