Michael H. Kelly's Obituary
Michael H. Kelly, 90, of Manassas, VA passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Holiday, The Fairmont in Manassas, VA. He was born September 3, 1932, in Charlottesville, VA to the late John and Minnie Kelly.
Michael graduated from Madison County High School in 1949 and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1956 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Before graduating, he served in the Army, including overseas with the 930th Engineer Aviation Group. During his time with the Army, Michael was awarded an Honorable Discharge and the National Defense Service Medal. He married his wife, Shirley Ann Payne on June 7, 1958. He practiced civil engineering until his retirement in 2000. During Michaels's career, he was registered as a professional engineer by the States of Virginia, Maryland, and Florida. He also has memberships in the American Societies of Civil Engineers and Mechanical Engineers.
In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Ann Payne.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with his friend, Arthur Carmichael officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 2524.
